The Pharmacology Group led by Professor Steve Ward and Professor Giancarlo Biagini has strengths in basic, applied and clinical pharmacology which includes:
- Investigations into the fundamentals of drug action and resistance
- PK/PD in in vitro and in vivo (animal & human) model systems, and
- Therapeutic evaluation of new therapies in patient populations including in pregnancy and children
Work is carried out in GCLP-accredited laboratories and in a number of disease areas including Malaria, Tuberculosis, Neglected Tropical Diseases, AMR and emerging infectious diseases including COVID-19.
